Richard J. Fafara earned a BA in Classical Languages from Seton Hall University and an MA and PhD in philosophy from the University of Toronto where he attended Etienne Gilson’s public lectures. He studied Cartesian philosophy under Professor Ferdinand Alquié at the Sorbonne and held a post‐doctoral fellowship at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, where he focused on seventeenth century Polish philosophy. He has taught at the University of New Brunswick at Saint John, the University of Saskatchewan, George Washington University, George Mason University, and Northern Virginia Community College. His publications include The Malebranche Moment: Selections from the Letters of Etienne Gilson and Henri Gouhier (1920–1936) (2007), articles on various seventeenth century philosophers and contemporary Thomists, and translations of Polish philosophers. He is currently a Fellow of the Adler‐Aquinas Institute.
