Pierre Chauveau Medal Awarded to James Carley
The Royal Society of Canada has awarded James P. Carley, a fellow of the RSC, Associate Fellow at the Institute, and Distinguished Research Professor at York University, the Pierre Chauveau Medal for his remarkable contributions to the humanities.
The Royal Society of Canada has awarded James P. Carley, a fellow of the RSC, Associate Fellow at the Institute, and Distinguished Research Professor at York University, the Pierre Chauveau Medal for his remarkable contributions to the humanities. An expert on the libraries of King Henry VIII, he is also the author of an edition and translation of John Leland's De uiris illustribus, the inaugural volume in the Institute's new series devoted to British Writers of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period. He is currently at work on the second volume of commentary on Leland's masterwork and on the early history of Lambeth Palace Library, a study growing out of his Sandars Lectures in Bibliography delivered in 2011 at the University of Cambridge.
