Donald Prudlo
Dr. Donald Prudlo is the William K. Warren Chair of Catholic Studies in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of Tulsa. He received his PhD at the University of Virginia, studying under PIMS Praeses Augustine Thompson, O.P. He is the author of monographs on hagiography, historical theology, and the Dominican Order, as well as translations and editions of several medieval and early modern texts. He will be at PIMS during the fall term 2025. As a Visiting Scholar, Dr. Prudlo hopes (1) to complete a book that narrates the origins, progress, challenges, and eventual success of the Dominican order from its institution to the election of Pierre of Tarentaise as Pope in 1276, (2) to produce an edition of Bernard Gui’s Vita sancti Petri martiris, and (3) to complete a long article that studies the ecclesiology of the early Dominican order.
