Prof Andrew Hughes (1937–2013) - in memoriam
We mourn the loss of Professor Andrew Hughes, internationally renowned scholar of medieval music. His pioneering use of computers in the study of the medieval liturgy yielded Late Medieval Liturgical Offices: Resources for Electronic Research (1994–1996), published by the Institute. His institutional honours before his retirement in 2004 included being promoted to University Professor and elected as President of the Medieval Academy of America (2001–2002). A tribute by his student John Haines of the Department of Music can be found on the Centre's website.
