Visiting Scholar for Fall Term 2022

The Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies welcomes Professor Daniel Wakelin as the W. John Bennett Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the fall term of 2022.

Daniel Wakelin is Jeremy Griffiths Professor of Medieval English Palaeography in the Faculty of English at the University of Oxford and Fellow of St Hilda’s College there. He primarily researches the working habits of scribes and the activities of readers in late medieval England. His publications include Humanism, Reading and English Literature (OUP, 2007), Scribal Correction and Literary Craft (CUP, 2014) and Immaterial Texts in Late Medieval England (CUP, 2022), as well as the exhibition Designing English at the Bodleian Library and its catalogue of the same name (Bodleian Publishing, 2017). He is currently studying writing habits by ordinary, non-professional people in everyday life in fifteenth-century England.
