Symposium: 19–20 October 2018
Mediaeval Studies, the multidisciplinary study of the European Middle Ages, is a discipline integral to the University of Toronto. The seeds of the enterprise were planted almost a hundred years ago on the campus of St Michael’s College.

Applications are now open for the 2018 Manuscript Studies Programme, which will convene in Rome from 4 June to 13 July 2018.
Prizes & Awards
Greti Dinkova-Bruun, Institute Librarian and Fellow, was named the new Canadian representative to the International Medieval Latin Committee at “Medialatinitas 2017,” its 8th meeting held in Vienna, Austria 17–21 September, in recognition of her remarkable accomplishments as a medieval Latinist and philologist.

Professor Elza Tiner, who holds a Licentiate from the Institute and was also Visiting Fellow this past spring and summer, is helping curate an exhibit entitled “Image + Text in Renaissance Folios.”

The Institute is pleased to announce a new course offering for the Winter term 2018, to be taught by the Institute's Leonard E. Boyle Professor of Manuscript Studies and Director of PIMS' Rome-Toronto Programme in Manuscript Studies, M. Michèle Mulchahey, together with Institute Fellow and Librarian, Greti Dinkova-Bruun.

The Vernam Hull Memorial Prize for the year 2015 has been awarded to Professor Ceri Davies, Emeritus Professor of Classics at Swansea University, for John Prise. Historiae Britannicae Defensio / A Defence of the British History, published by PIMS.

The Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies held a special convocation on 20th May in St Basil’s Collegiate Church to confer an honorary degree on His Highness the Aga Khan.
